Blackwater Receptionist area Screenshot
Meet the Receptionist entrance of Blackwater, where you are greeted by an armed escort and high security. The security camera is fake. It’s just a little dome that has a blinking light in it, battery powered. We took some wall sticker tape and stuck it to the wall. This is a great little prop that I got on Amazon fairly inexpensively that helps to sell the whole surveillance of Blackwater and other locations.

When you watch the show, see how many times you can spot the surveillance camera, whether it be at the Victor Stonecore location, Blackwater, or different locations.
A big thanks to Gary, who supplied the desk and painted it black so we would have a receptionist desk. Also big thank you to Hanover First Church of God, who let us use their hallway as the entrance for Blackwater.
So much goes into being able to sell to the audience the realness of a scene, from writing a good script, to casting the right actors, to getting the right props and costumes, and of course, how you film it to tell the story so that it’s believable.

We have fake guns that we use that are either air-propelled guns or non-firing guns. With every set that involves any kind of prop gun, we always do gun safety for the cast.

Due to the way that this scene was filmed, I really didn’t have to do much color grading or lighting adjustment at all. Which is really the goal being to capture as much as you can in camera and only tweak or make minor adjustments to get the right vibe and post.
I also added some special effects for the facial recognition scanner along with sound effects to help sell the feature.

Until next time, God bless and thank you for supporting Word and Deed.
